The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) is recognized internationally for its clinical, educational and research excellence. As Database Architect, you will support the operations and further development of a dedicated data and compute environment for POPLAR’s analytical activities using primary care Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). You will lead the ongoing development of a data platform to support researchers working across Ontario. Relying on your deep and broad technical experience, you will apply best practices in EMR data management and standardization, ensure that encryption keys are used to securely store data objects, and design data models for user contributions to the POPLAR Data Platform. Your proven record of working with big data and analytics – from concept development to proof-of-concept to final implementation – will enable you to find asolution that balances user access to large scale data warehousing and analysis while retaining data privacy, security, and integrity and maintaining the trust of stakeholders and data providers.
This role will also have opportunities for key internal collaboration and resource sharing with MedIT. MedIT provides enterprise information technology services and support for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, and aims to partner with clients, University, and third parties to determine value-based, sustainable technology solutions that enable the Faculty to achieve its academic mission.
