Our Work

inspire-phc

Primary Health Care (PHC) is the foundation of a high quality, sustainable health system.

In Ontario, despite progress in increasing access to PHC, many patients still do not have a usual source of care and only 25% of Ontarians have access to an inter-professional team. Even with a regular PHC provider, some still experience difficulty in getting timely access when sick and often experience gaps in care when they need services from more than one part of the healthcare system.

Innovations Strengthening Primary Health Care through Research

Our research aims to provide quality information on patient needs and PHC capacity to deliver care in defined geographic areas, and to provide early feedback on the successes and challenges in introducing PHC reforms such as Ontario Health Teams and the expansion of virtual care in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This research will help improve access to care, the care experience for patients, and better health outcomes for all Ontarians.
