Dr. Clare Liddy

Project Lead: eCase Conferencing and Complex Patients

Dr. Clare Liddy is a Clinical Investigator at the C.T. Lamont Primary Health Care Research Centre and an Associate Professor and Tier 2 Chair at the University of Ottawa Department of Family Medicine with a cross-appointment to the School of Epidemiology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine. She continues to practice family medicine within The Ottawa Hospital Academic Family Health Team. Dr. Liddy’s program of research focuses on improving access to specialist care and developing services to support the prevention and management of chronic disease.

Dr. Liddy co-developed the Champlain BASE™* eConsult service, a web-based application designed to reduce wait times for specialist care by facilitating asynchronous communication between specialists and primary care providers. More than 20,000 eConsult cases have been processed, over two-thirds of which resulted in patients receiving care without needing a face-to-face specialist visit. Building on its successful implementation and growth across the Ottawa region, the eConsult service has partnered with national and provincial stakeholders to support its expansion to new regions across Canada.
